Dissolving half a teaspoon of sea salt in warm water and swishing it around for 30 to 60 seconds can help maintain oral pH and encourage healing. Xylitol, a sweetener that is beneficial for teeth, disrupts bacterial metabolism while promoting saliva production, which neutralizes acids and supplies minerals to the enamel. Diet also plays a crucial role in maintaining enamel health. Foods rich in calcium, such as cheese, leafy greens, nuts, and seeds, along with vitamin D from fatty fish, aid in remineralization. Green tea offers antioxidants that can inhibit harmful bacteria and reduce inflammation. Timing is also important—waiting 30 to 60 minutes after consuming acidic foods before brushing helps protect softened enamel.
