A Utah judge has issued a protective custody order for Erika Kirk—the widow of slain conservative commentator Charlie Kirk—and the couple’s two children, citing ongoing security concerns related to the suspect in Kirk’s assassination, Tyler Robinson.
The court order, filed Wednesday, explicitly prohibits Robinson from making any form of contact with Erika or her family, citing him as an “immediate threat.” Robinson, 22, is currently being held without bail in Utah County Jail on charges related to the September 10 shooting at Utah Valley University, where Kirk was fatally shot during a live event.
The protective order bans Robinson from “engaging in harassment, threats, stalking, or any other conduct that would place the protected person or designated family or household members in reasonable fear of bodily injury,” according to documents obtained by The Western Journal.
Although Robinson remains incarcerated, the judge acknowledged the possibility of indirect communication—such as through phone calls or digital messaging—which the order strictly forbids. He is now legally barred from contacting Erika Kirk by any means, including phone, email, social media, or through third parties.
The ruling underscores the continued concern for Erika’s safety as she reenters public life in the wake of her husband’s killing. Last Friday, Erika made her first public appearance since the tragedy, delivering an emotional and defiant speech that echoed her late husband’s message of conviction and resilience.
“If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea,” she said. “You have no idea what you’ve just unleashed across this country and this world. You have no idea the fire you have ignited within this wife. The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.”
Erika vowed to continue her husband’s legacy and confirmed that the American Comeback Tour—a nationwide campus speaking tour launched by Charlie Kirk—will go on as planned.
“Our campus tour this fall will continue,” she announced. “And there will be even more tours in the years to come.”
The protective order remains in effect as Robinson awaits trial, where prosecutors have indicated they will seek the death penalty. In the meantime, Erika Kirk’s role as a voice for the movement her husband helped build appears only to be growing stronger.
