Afghan National Arrested After Alleged Bomb Threat Targeting Fort Worth, Texas

An Afghan national was arrested this week after he allegedly posted a TikTok video suggesting he was constructing a bomb intended for a target in the Fort Worth, Texas area, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Court records show Mohammad Dawood Alokozay has been charged at the state level with making a terroristic threat, Fox News reported.

Entered U.S. Under Operation Allies Welcome

DHS confirmed that Alokozay entered the United States through Operation Allies Welcome, the Biden administration’s resettlement program for Afghans following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

Another Afghan national, Rahmanullah Lakanwal—accused of shooting two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., this week—also arrived in the U.S. under the same program.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt commented on X following Alokozay’s arrest, stating:

“The magnitude of the national security crisis Joe Biden unleashed on our country over the span of four years cannot be overstated. President Trump has directed his entire team to continue rooting out this evil within our borders.”

Arrest Coordinated With FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force

Alokozay was taken into custody on Tuesday by the Texas Department of Public Safety, working alongside an FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. His arrest occurred one day before the Washington, D.C., shooting.

Federal officials said Alokozay was admitted into the United States as a lawful permanent resident on September 7, 2022.
ICE has since lodged an immigration detainer against him.

Trump Responds With New Immigration Proposal

Following the D.C. attack, President Trump announced Thursday that he plans to temporarily halt immigration from third-world countries. In a Truth Social post, Trump said modern advancements in the U.S. have been undermined by “eroded Immigration Policy,” according to RedState.

He vowed to:

  • “Permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries”
  • End federal benefits for noncitizens
  • Remove migrants who are “not a net asset”
  • Deport individuals deemed security risks
  • Reverse Biden-era immigration actions, including those authorized by “Autopen”

Trump stated the objective is “achieving a major reduction in illegal and disruptive populations” and that “Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation.”

USCIS Halts Afghan Immigration Requests

Before Trump’s announcement, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services posted on X that it had halted all immigration requests related to Afghan nationals indefinitely pending a review of security and vetting procedures.

D.C. Shooting: National Guard Member Killed, Another Injured

Authorities say 29-year-old Afghan national Rehmanullah Lakanwal approached three National Guard members near Farragut Square in downtown Washington, D.C., and opened fire with a handgun.

  • Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was shot multiple times and later died.
  • Air Force Staff Sergeant Andrew Rolfe, 24, remains in critical condition.
  • A third service member returned fire and helped stop the attacker.

Officials say the motive appears to be radical Islamic terrorism. Lakanwal reportedly arrived in the U.S. after working with American forces during the Afghanistan war. He now faces first-degree murder and multiple assault with intent to kill charges.

Refugee Policy Changes Also in Focus

The Trump administration recently made headlines for announcing significant reductions in the number of refugees the United States will accept in the upcoming fiscal year, with a stated priority on white South Africans who officials say are facing discrimination in their home country.
