ON THE ISRAEL-HAMAS CEASEFIRE | October 13, 2025
In a surprising and unifying message, former President Bill Clinton issued a public statement applauding the newly reached ceasefire between Israel and Hamas — and credited former President Donald Trump and his administration for helping make it happen.
“The horrors of the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel — and the devastating conflict that followed — have caused unimaginable human suffering. It’s been painful to witness and nearly impossible to justify,” Clinton said.
Clinton went on to express relief over the ceasefire agreement, which has led to the release of the final 20 living hostages and the opening of humanitarian aid corridors into Gaza.
“President Trump, his administration, Qatar, and other regional players deserve great credit for staying engaged and pushing for this agreement,” he continued.
The acknowledgment of Trump’s role shocked many on the left and drew strong reactions across the political spectrum — with even Trump allies expressing surprise at Clinton’s rare bipartisan praise.
Clinton closed by calling for a renewed effort to turn this fragile peace into something lasting:
“Israel and Hamas — with support from the United States, regional leaders, and the international community — must now work to transform this moment into a durable peace that guarantees dignity and security for both Palestinians and Israelis. I believe it’s possible — but only if they do it together.”
